OpenStudy: Make the World your Study Group

Photo by SiSter PhotograPherDo you remember what it was like to sit at your kitchen table for hours struggling to get your math homework done? I do. And those poor students in Race to NoWhere reminded me of what it was like to struggle alone because even your parents were stuck on some of the problems. Even when you moved out and on your own, you still continued to struggle at home alone with your college work. Why should people have to do this anymore when now the world is open?
The Race to NoWhere Series
In case you missed it:
Quite a few films have come out in the past year that disclose some shocking issues in our education systems. Recently, I attended a screening for Race to Nowhere with my friend Jared Mobarak. I don’t want to critique the movie. Instead, I want to discuss the main issues presented in the film over the next week.

As an educationist who is currently focusing on DIY learning, I believe we need a radically different approach to crediting learning that occurs in our daily lives. Informal, low-cost learning can play a huge role in developing human capital, communities, and businesses and I love to connect with those who share my passion.
