This season, Mozilla is taking their charity one step further. They’ve already donated $5,000 to the charities listed on this page and will donate another $25,000 to the charity that raises the most money by people like us. Here are my top 6 Mozilla Firefox Challenges.
1. Jason Bateman and City Year
More than 1 million kids drop out of school every year. Most of the time, it’s not just the coursework. Obviously this can lead to unemployment and increases their chances of going to prison. City Year tutors and mentors help potential drop outs with more than just their grades.
Did anyone else see Horrible Bosses? Hilarious.
2. Zooey Deschanel and The Innocence Project
Many individuals in this country are serving prison time for crimes they didn’t commit. New technologies can help exonerate these individuals and give them freedom.
I love Zooey Deschanel. She has one of the prettiest voices ever.
3. Christy Turlington and Every Mother Counts
Pregnant women in poverty oftentimes don’t have the resources at their disposal to have a safe and healthy birth. Every Mother
Counts is an organization that helps educate women about family planning and safe pregnancy, transportation, and human resources.
Christy Turlington is one of my favorite supermodels, but her activism for mothers, lung cancer awareness, and a sense of calm have always humbled me.
4. Sean Penn and the J/P Haitian Relief Organization
What really struck me about this video was the commitment helping Haitians get back to normalcy, or possibly an even better life through rubble removal, clinics, and schools.
Sean Penn is an incredible man who chooses his projects wisely.
5. Edward Norton and the Maasai Wilderness Conversation Trust
It’s true that we aren’t just affected by things right in out own backyards, and even events on the other side of the world can deeply affect us. We can’t just concentrate on the smaller protected segments, we must invest in the entire ecosystem. The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust gives us a chance to help the Maasai people protect the ecosystem around them.
Edward Norton is an incredible actor and one smart man with a big heart.
6. David Blaine and Charity: Water
1.1 billion people don’t have access to safe drinking water. $20 can give 20 people clean water for a year. Help Charity:Water build wells.
OK, I honestly don’t know much about David Blaine, but I now know he’s a magician.
Originally this post started out as my top 5, but I just couldn’t weed one of these out. They are all phenomenal campaigns. Which one are you donating to and why?
